THE SPACE
Welcome to Hot Shot Muffler, a multi-purpose studio at 5507 York Blvd in the heart of Highland Park.
We host photo shoots, video shoots, live streams, pop-up events, wedding receptions, concerts and everything in between.
The building is 3,500 square feet with 10 ft ceilings, and the parking lot provides another 1,500 square feet of private exterior space.
Open the 25’ roll up door and create an indoor/outdoor studio for a safer working environment during the COVID-19 pandemic.
The studio rental comes with access to high speed internet, a great sound system, ping pong table, pop-a-shot, a kitchenette, and more.

Hot Shot Muffler is in compliance with all health and safety measures laid out in HOO Stage 3 Appendix J, the “COUNTY OF LOS ANGELES DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC HEALTH ORDER OF THE HEALTH OFFICER” regarding “Reopening Protocol for Music, Television and Film Production”.
This includes having:
• A workplace COVID Compliance Officer (C19CO) on staff, who has established and enforces COVID-19 safety protocols.
• Available PPE and infection prevention supplies available, including face coverings, hand sanitizers, disinfectants, gloves, hand washing stations, etc.
• Increased ventilation, including HVAC, industrial fans, and a 20’x8’ roll up door which can remain open at all times.
• A planned response, following guidance required by the County of Los Angeles, in case of an employee or guest informing us of a positive COVID-19 test.
• Measures instituted to assure access to safety protocols and equipment for employees and guests who have mobility limitations.
The layout of the studio has been reorganized to allow filming to happen in an “indoor / outdoor” space. According to the CDC, transmission rates are exponentially lower in outdoor scenarios vs. indoor scenarios, so by keeping the action close to the open garage door, and having the majority of the crew stay outside and socially distanced, we are able to create a much safer working environment.

A small grip package is included in the rental, and additional lighting and digital equipment is available to rent at discounted rates.
Production Coordinator
Our in house team can help you coordinate additional gear rentals, catering & craft service, or sourcing talented crew. We can also help you plan and implement COVID-19 safety protocols.
Digital Tech
Our in house team can handle your digital needs, including EQ rentals, digital tech-ing, video village, and image processing.
Live Streaming
We are experts at live streaming photo shoots. From a simple screen share and webcam set-up, to a comprehensive broadcast quality live feed, we are happy to help you bring your remote clients or crew to the shoot when they can't join in person.
